A couple years ago a friend with a 100 series (loser has a GX470 now! @sleepycruiser) sent me these from a FB group. Hehehehe
Love ya bro, hope all is well in GX land!

Amazing temporary concept that could prove useful for my uses.
I’m wondering if anyone on MUD here did this and would care to give more details.

Maybe someone here already has…

TIA,
Zack

Great execution! I'm guessing your uses would be occasional fridge slide but need 3rd row seats sometimes. I would probably just fasten a thin sheet of baltic birch plywood to the floor, in such a way the 3rd row seats could still be fastened. Then, I would just use thumb screws to fasten the fridge slide. If not wanting the platform, you could probably install some riv-nuts into the floor instead (w/ reinforcements).

Your "loser" friend's slide (I'm kidding, your words, not mine!) is less than ideal because 1) it is higher than it needs to be and 2) it is further forward (away from tailgate) than it needs to be. So anything you store behind it needs to be removed before sliding the fridge out.

Whoah! Details notwithstanding, this is brilliant!
especially considering you see those seats often go for free or cheap on CL etc...

I just want a slide from time to time. I don’t even own a fridge but like projects.

The friend didn’t do this he sent me the pics years ago, he has a couple GXs now. But he is still super cool! Originally an 80 and 100 owner himself. He has actually organized some sweet group buys for us!

The other neat thing is the sacrificial seat has TONS of factory leather. The person who did this had a shop take the near perfect leather from that 3rd row and they repaired the drivers seat. And looked absolutely STOCK! Well because it’s the same leather lol…

With quite a bit of leather left over for future uses.

It's a clever idea.

IMHO, not worth the effort and brain twist to modify an old seat base though.
You're starting with a frame that's geometrically odd. This complicates the whole process.

I agree with the comment about the unnecessary height. The other thing is the additional bulk you have to store, either in the vehicle, or if you take it out.

I also wonder about the stability of it when a fridge is full of 100# of food or beer and extended out at full cantilever.

Easier to build something that suits on the floor. A temporary solution with the same type of slides can be light and simple and not bulky
