I need to move one of my cruisers to a friends for the winter. Brake master is shot so I need a secure way to pull it a few miles and thought the old style tow bar that mounts to the front bumper would be perfect but Uhaul no longers rents them. And right after Christmas I would rather not spend a $100 or more on a new one. I am in the Indianapolis area.
Thanks,
Steve

just rent one of those 2 wheel dolly thingies?

Even a regular trailer is only about $50/day. Just bring extra straps becuase if you have anything larger than ~27" tires you might need it.

Though I suppose the easiest thing to do would be to take 5 min and change the brake master....but hey thats just me.

I have a dolly u could borrow but u would have about 5 hr round trip to get it.

Does anyone know of a comparable GM or Ford swap for the master cylinder? The 67 has the single barrel master. Otherwise, it appears I will be renting the dolly from U-Haul!

Excellent! Any chance you recall what year(s) go good with an FJ40?
Thanks, Steve:clap:
EDIT: Hang on, let me review the disc brake link you included in your reply first!

IIRC there are 2 different masters for the 4runner. One is a smaller bore less than 1" and there is a bigger bore, equal to the fj80. Im not sure which years are which but I would guess the change happened with the v6 trucks (88), cause I think thats when they went to the larger calipers. I can say my 92 master is the same model # as the fj80 acording to oreilleys

We used the 87 mini truck unit from a 4 cyl. truck on Johnnies 40

Just throwin that out there.

just an FYI, but my 67 FJ40 does not have a booster. will any of these choices still work?

I went with the larger bore unit from a pre-abs 4 runner. I got it from 94 i believe. I'd have to check my notes. If you're going to run drums you may have to run a proportioning valve for the rears. I know Summit carry's an adjustable valve. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G3905/
