Going to head to DV between Xmas and New Years. Never been there before. Unfortunately going solo in the 100. Might not be the best time with the recent weather activity but we are going anyway. Any chance any fellow mudders are going to be in the area?

Any tips or advice appreciated.

We are Leaving Vancouver Dec 26th. Heading down I5 to meet up with 395 in Washington and then that to the park pretty much.

Heading back to Canada on the 2nd. Planning on spending 5 days exploring the park. Would be great to meet up.

This is 100 tech because...there's only hundreds going to be meeting up.

You guys should think of something techy quick. Like....ok if one of you guys drafts the other from oregon, how much MPG more can you get then the lead truck?

Joel, pm'd.

Loud. How do we get a hold of you once we are in DV?

Ya I took a quick look at the options but wasn't sure where else to post this. I didn't notice a trip planning section?

Well, there's cell service in furnace creek and stovepipe wells. Also in Big Pine, CA on the north side of DV even as you start to turn onto death valley road.

I dont think I'd be able to get out there on the 28th, but maybe meet at camp on the 29th. I've got a new grill I want to burn in and test out. I can bring fire wood/food too if you guys need some.

Do you guys have 2m radios installed in your truck(tech content)?

I have a 2m handheld in the 100. I'll pm you my phone number as well. Maybe let me know what freq. you'd be on with the VHF.

Like I said we will be in the park from the 28th to 1 most likely so anytime you want to meet up is fine with me. We can coordinate something. I haven't planned as far as where within the park we are going to stay or go specifically. We tend to like to move camp day to day as well.

I'll be bringing my wife and her friend so I may have to split my time with some hiking/tourist activities as well. Is the Lippincott mine road doable this time of year?

Tech: I have a noise under my shifter console when my truck is in "P" and I step on the brake. Doesn't make any noise when it's in gear just park. Any ideas?

From 12/7. I would be careful with that one, it's been raining for a whole week here n wreaking all sorts of havoc. I'd be down to try it again tho.

Ya I saw those but I wasn't sure where exactly they were. I'd be up for trying as well.

As for Heathers friend, I'm pretty sure she's too old for you. haha.

OBVIously you folks are coming from up north but, plan for some cold weather down here as well. It was in the mid 20s in those morning shots. Death valley, later that day, when I reached it...was about 65.

Let's let Blair be the judge of that!

Ok let me rephrase that. "I'm pretty sure you're too young for her". haha.

Don't mind the cold nights and mornings. As long as it doesn't rain EVERY day I'm happy and 65 is perfect.

Plan on hitting Eureka Dunes either on way or out, best dunes in park. We camped there 1st part of Jan. this year, was 19 degrees and same for camping at Lippincott next night. The Racetrack is wet now so no walking on it, doubt it will be dry by then, maybe if storms stop. That Lippincott Road was narrow! couple of places needed 3 point turn in the 100. Expect Badwater salt flats are somewhat of a lake, makes for some cool photos.

Rain stopped last night. Yeah Lippincott Pass/Ubehebe Road(that's what my street nav said) was already pretty interesting and in anything wider I'd have probably turned around/backed out. Wonder if it got washed out any more this past week.

I didnt go to the dunes, saved that for another trip, so I'd be interested.

I need to get out to badwater to see it in somewhat-of-a-lake-state, hopefully it doesnt dry up in the next two days
