Ive had my cruiser up on jack stands for 2 weeks and have accomplished the following:
front and rear diffs pulled and new 4.88 gears installed and mounted back up
OME J's and heavy coils in
L shocks in
5 new 35" tires mounted up
snorkel installed
All i have left is to rebuild the front axle(it is completely disassembled and cleaned) and rebuild the rear axle because upon pulling the axles i found they were leaking internally. I had my bushings pressed in by Kevin (thanks dude) and gotta figure out how to get them bolted up. Kevin gave me a few pointers but I sure could use a second hand.
I have done all this by myself with simple hand tools and am getting down to the wire for getting this truck on the road to Moab. And frankly, im sick of driving my wife to work every day because my trucks up in the air. So I hope to knock out a chunk of this this weekend. Maybe even finish it up. With the assembing the axles, I would like a little assistance if I run into a snag or cant get something to work out. Hell, feel free to kick back in a lawn chair in my garage and drink my beer and point and shout, just as long as I get this together properly. My biggest hang up is the seating the seals correctly and getting the preload on the bearings correct. I think thats why my axle bearings failed last time because I didnt preload or adjust them right, and I dont want to duplicate it again.
Unfortunately I live on the westside(I-10 and 115th ave) so most of you guys live out east. I would definately pay for your gas and some lunch too. So if theres anyone that knows what they are doing and is free on Saturday, It would be greatly appreciated. otherwise, you know where i'll be.
