Well she does have a crate, but how long can/should she actually be kept in there? I think she picked up some bad traits in the past 10 months.......
Zack

If my dog chews stuff up when I'm at work I will put him in the crate the next day, he is in it for 8-10 hours with no problems.

Have you uncle keep the dog in the crate, take it out to do it's business. When the dog does it's thing outside give it lots of praise, "good dog". I think the dog will learn/remember housetraining pretty quick. As others have said they are smart dogs.

My puppy is 10 months old too. He is Aussie Shepard/Husky mix. At the dog park he tries to herd all of the other dogs. So far he is a great pup.

that's a cool looking mutt...

My best friend had one - that little dog dominated him, and made his life miserable. Anytime he left, the dog would tear up something. Ate a few couches, all of his cds, movies, his bed, etc. You couldn't call him on the phone at his house because as soon as he tried to talk, the dog would get close and bark every single time he'd open his mouth to talk. It was kind of funny - you'd call and tell the guy what you wanted to say in silence, but as soon as you could tell he was gonna say something, the dog would bark. He could not get one word out. If he tried to go in another room and talk, the dog would start tearing s*** up.

My friend is a pretty mellow dude, but I'd be damned if I would let a dog walk all over me like that one did to him. He used to catch a bunch of grief about it, too. If he showed up at one of our houses with that dog, we'd tell him to leave. He'd be like "c'mon guys, he's not that bad. I just can't leave him home alone..."

He bought the thing from a puppy mill, and unfortunately for the dog (but fortunately for him) his aorta ruptured when he was about two years old. I hated that dog, but wouldn't hold it against the breed because of a s***ty owner ill prepared to have a high energy intelligent dog like that.

Update: She pissed on the carpet three times, and took a dump in the house twice.................When she is walked outside on a leash she will not go, so for it seems like she only will do it in the house...

He needs to take the dog out at least once every hour until it is not pissing inside anymore.

It's been my experience that girl puppies can't hold it as long as boy puppies.

they have great sinces of humor and know they are funny.

they gotta get a workout to loose their energy, if you dont the dog will mostlikely go escape and do it its self. there super smart and will always find a way out if they really want to.

if ya can get her trained to be good off a leash and on, itll be alot easier in the long run

they need weekly grooming or she'll share her fur with every one/thing

10 months old, can't crate it for more than about 4 hours.

Most behavior issues, especially with puppies, can be avoided with proper exercise and the appropriate chew toys/bones.

Keep the dog tired as hell!

If you feed it at night rather than in the morning, they'll have much better luck holding it while you're at work (assuming you work days here, lol).

I read some of these stories about dogs eating couches while the owner was away, and wonder why the dog was left out if you can't trust it?!? My dog was nearly a year old before she got to stay out in the house while we were away, or while we slept. Screw up once, and back in the kennel for a week or more, it was a privilege and she got that pretty quick.

Yeah, we feed at night and walk them in the morning. They get to go off leash and run in the evenings. That tires them out just fine and no accidents while we are away.

We gradually worked up to leaving the dogs out of the crate while away. Both did fine. One of them gets into the trash cans in the bathrooms and pulls stuff out, but we just close the bathroom doors and solved that problem.

We feed twice a day and walk at least twice a day. Usually within 30 min of eating they are ready to dump. You just have to get up a bit earlier. If you can't feed and walk twice per day, then you don't have time to have a dog. Every vet we have had agrees that they must be fed twice a day. Often destructive behaviors are also the result of them feeling hungry.

I don't get my family.....They love this fawking dog, and the dog is truly nuts! Oh well at least it is not my dog at my house.

x2 ^

My dogs have a 1/4 acre front yard with a dog door into the house, and I still take them for a walk before I go to work.

If I [STRIKE]have[/STRIKE] make time, we'll go for a 20m off-leash romp in the woods, which requires a 20m drive round-trip, but it's worth it, for all of us. So this usually happens when I get home from work, depending on how the shift was. It's a good way to mentally shake off the work mode, for me...

My wife loves hers but it is a pain. She doesn't discipline so its up to me.....loving dog but drags everything in the yard. The chiahuahuas get tired of being herded and just bite the healer mix in the face. The basset just howls like a basset does.
