I recently installed a Freezebrain, and while the concept seemed solid (drops AC temps by about 5 degrees in the 70 series), I've run into a pretty frustrating issue that I wanted to share in case anyone else is dealing with the same.
About a month after installation, I started having trouble with the compressor randomly cutting in and out. At first, I didn’t suspect the Freezebrain—I went through everything else first. But after exhausting all other possibilities, I decided to pull the Freezebrain and take a closer look.
Turns out, none of the connector pins were soldered to the board!
They must have been making just enough contact to pass QC and kept working for a month before failing. What a nightmare it has been trying to figure that out.
The worst thing would be to get caught out in the middle of nowhere with this acting up. Without this working, the AC is dead.
I emailed the company to let them know, and I haven’t heard back yet. Seems like the customer support is not great either.
Just a heads up if you’ve installed one of these—might be worth checking your boards…
