My passenger seat makes a knocking noise ALL THE TIME and its driving me nuts. I always make my wife adjust the seat all over to try and make them stop, but that only works some of the time. There is nothing under it rattling, and as far as I can tell its coming from within the seat or the rails. has anyone else had this issue before?

Mine makes an annoying noise when it's empty. If I shove the seat belt clip forward into the seat, it stops it. Seems different than your issue though.

I am about ready to take the seat out and re tighten everything with locktite. It is progressively getting worse over the days and does it whether or not someone is in the seat. It's causing marriage issues for me when I pull off the road to make my wife look around and try to stop the rattle!

You guys are killin' me :) The unmarried folks won't understand.....

I was about to start the same post. My passenger seat started to rattle when I put some E rated Duratracks on the truck. Had the E's swapped out for some C rated tires and the rattles decreased over small road imperfections but continue, to also drive me nuts, when hitting bigger road imperfections--which we have a lot of here in the Sierras. If I push the lower passenger cushion with my hand towards the passenger door it stops. Of course I can't drive like that. I would like to correct this before hitting the trails latter this spring.

This is more the same as my problem. I solved it by just rotating the seatbelt connector thingie as far forward as possible, which put enough pressure on the seat itself to mimic me putting my hand on it to stop the rattle.

Thanks madtoy I'll give that a try. I would like to figure out the root of the problem and tighten or fix the part/s that are making the rattles. Just haven't had the time to pull the seat to this point. If anyone has "the fix" it would be great to know.

...I'm grounded guys, I did something stupid and left this page open and my better half saw... Im grounded, she is taking the Lexus away from for a week...

FIXED!
Over the past several years I've developed a progressively worsening rattle from the front passenger seat, only when the seat is unoccupied. It was not the seatbelt buckle or the headrest. The seat does not shake excessively, but it does seem to oscillate slightly side to side. At times the harmonic vibrations of the truck can get just right and the noise becomes a constant tick tick tick tick.

I spent an hour crawling around in the floorboards, trying to figure out if something were loose under the seat, or seeing if some well placed foam would silence it. No luck. I even took the seat out and inspected it from underneath.

Finally it occurred to me that it is simply a noise caused by the slight oscillation of the seat bottom on its rails. The answer was to make the rails more stable, to prevent the oscillation. I loosened all four mounting bolts for the seat rails on the floor, and then pushed each rail outward slightly as I tightened the bolts back up. The bolt holes are wide enough to do this. This gave the rails a slightly wider footprint and changed their angles in relation to one another. The result - no more shaking and no more noise.

Very nice! I'll have to give that a try. Now any tips for my popping drivers arm rest?

Ahh...finally a possible fix for the passenger seat rattle!
