I just bought a rolled 94 80 that I have now cut the roof off of and I am going to cage. I am planning on using it primarily for wheeling but want to keep it street legal. Anyone got any tips or pics? I have done this once before with a rolled Jeep XJ but it is unibody so its a lil different.

Thanks Carrie

I have one thing to add...

I just cut it off today... Cut me some slack. I will post pics as soon as I get them off of the camera...

So do you have anything to contribute?

Best pic I have at the moment. 9yo was taking the pictures and he actually did a pretty good job...

I took my 80 chop a little to far. Advise or tips? Loose as much weight as you can. The 80 can be a killer offroad truck. It will climb just about anything that it can get ahold of.

Way nice!!! We are getting rid of as much weight as possible but I think its going to outweigh my jeep by a lot!!!

start bendin tube and post pics ...I looked at that 80 and thought about doin the same ... but I have a chopped and bobbed 60 already

oh and make sure you brace the b piller to the cage kind like this

Hopefully we will have some progress next week... You know how it goes. Those of us that have that evil thing between M-F called work.. This was a good start. Just picked it up on Sunday.

We found that out the hard way on the XJ... Made a mental note to do it then forgot... We were already looking at it on this one and its need...

Hello do you have a link to the Drexx build up ? Thanks

That mud pit in the video looked pretty nasty. That is a crazy setup. central tire inflation would be nice.

carrieinva... nice to see a lady working on the ol 80... keep us all posted this looks like it could turn out well (even the heep looked pretty nice)

Although, IIRC your 80 was in great shape, and became a donor for the drive train! Still an awesome build you did:cheers:!
