For some reason I can't find the local subforum so any mods feel free to move this thread to proper location! sorry!

my question: has anyone been out to the old mine roads in joshua tree lately? I looked on the website and there have been closures throughout the park due to a severe flash flood earlier this month. --there was no mention of the mining roads though.

anyone been out there? is it still open ? tips?

thanks!!

I was out there on 8/20. I was not aware of any closures, but then again it might have been before the flash floods. It is a really beautiful place. The views are just wonderful. I would defiantly drive through the park , lots of history and fun things to read about. You can get into the park From Joshua tree or the back way off the 10 fwy. The back way gets you to old Dale road fastest ( I am pretty sure). I usually call the park before hand just to check for closures so I would recommend doing that. Here is a pic from that weekend.

thanks for the reply! unfortunately the flood happened earlier this month. I was thinking about entering from the 62 on Gold Crown and then heading south to catch old dale, but i'm still not sure.

this is the information for the closure: Joshua Tree National Park - Pinto Basin Road Will Partially Reopen (U.S. National Park Service)

Yeah, we took a lot of damage with the flash flooding. Call these numbers during working hours- if the visitor center staff doesn't know what has reopened, ask to speak with a ranger. Have a great visit!
