Sup just moved to nelson county in september . looking for some people to wheel with. been a member for a while dont post much anymore. but still browse the boards. use to hang in the va md dc section when i was living in bmore. i got a 86 4runner 22re on 32 11/50 bfg at no lift but thats the fun part. anyways . hoping to find some wheeling buddys . i hit the ohv trail to craptree meadows this past weekend in the snow. but once i had to go downhill. didnt wana get stuck alone with the kids in the truck. i need some local friends help a brother out
yeah i kept it. ended up modifying a 18 gal fuel tank fuel pump pickup tube to work in a 15 gal tank. and reused my old guage sending unit guage works 50 percent of the time. and my low fuel light works like its supose to. had all new fuel lines custom made and bent wich was a total pain in the ass to get made and install. i belive my injectors are slightly dirty again . i think there was still some crud in the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail. and it partialy cloged them up but it runs good enuf for 14 to 15 mpg on highway for now. im to lazy to go out and freze takeing the intake off right now . im driveingit more and more all the time suburban still main transportation for now . 4runners geting used im not gonna let it sit like it did before i got it. just wish it had more power in the balls department. i miss wheeling and now im living in va . i got no excuse not to wheel. hell i live in the dam forest im on the mountain below skylibe drive i see wintergreen ski resort from my house i lok up the mountain and see it.
Apparently the reverse light switch is usually the problem with the reverse lights. New switch from Toyota is about $20
Mine has been disabled since I bought my runner.
I was thinking about just adding a manual switch and some aux rear lights for camp lights, night wheeling, and tailgaters.
i never hooked mine up after doing the auto to 5 speed swap my wireing for the plug is just hanging down there . i was to happy to be able to drive it at the time
Both are fire roads. Shoe Creek is a lot shorter than Bald Mountain. In both cases, it's easier to find the top if you're trying to find them for the 1st time.
Bald Mountain (usually closed Jan thru mid April):
Take 664 to the BR parkway and turn left. Drive until you see the Bald Mountain Lookout. The trail is just passed it and is marked as a fire road. This trail is pretty long so make sure you have plenty of daylight. it will drop down the other side of the mountain and end at Coal Rd. Take a right, follow coal road to the end. Take another right on Mt Torry Rd. You will go past Sherando Lake and then you will see 664 again on the left.
Shoe Creek:
Go south on 151. Turn left on rt 56 towards Crab Tree Falls. Climb the mountain, go past the main entrance for Crab Tree Falls and then take a left onto Meadows Lane. Follow this gravel road until you get to a parking area. Keep going straight. you will pass some camp sites and then the AP trail. This is where the trail starts. Cool thing... I just noticed that Shoe Creek is now on Google Maps. The bottom end is not easy to find so I will let you check Google Maps or you can follow your GPS out. FYI-It's a short & busy trail and the locals can get a little cranky if they see someone wheeling off the trail.
Rumor has it that there are trails that the locals keep to themselves. So be extra nice to any wheelers you meet
cool thanks for the info. i been on meadow lane i went till it seemed like it was gonna get pretty steep going down hill in the snow few weeks back. didnt wana get stuck on back side of a hill with the wife and kids in the truck. gonna have to go back up and check it out when its dry to get the feal for it. and im gonna have to try and find the coal hill one. realy appreciate it
