Have a opportunity to buy a 2010 FJ Cruiser that has 190K on it that is all highway miles. He drives it to work and has put it in 4WD about 6 times over the years. Doesn't wheel it at all and wants to sell it. I thought it would make a good off roader that actually has an automatic AC/heat and working windshield wipers.
I have driven one and was not impressed with the vision blind spots but haven't really seen may offroad and was wondering how well they do. Just was thinking a small lift bigger tires, sliders and not sure what they have for rear lockers .

Joe Mylie (jmylie) and his son both drive them and wheel them. They do AOAA no problems.

@FJEchoWhiskey wheels his pretty hard. Shorter wheel base and lightness make it way better at everything than an equivalent 4runner or GX

I wheeled with the Northeastern FJ club...pretty much al newer FJs. They all did Rausch Blues just fine. 33" and 35"s,
Yes @FJEchoWhiskeys ride does great ...I think its all preference. AC in August on the trails is NICE!

Yup, as you all know I wheel with the 3 listed above....the FJ keeps up well with 80's and 100's on 35's...well at least with the 100's....my 80 on 35's with a rear locker is a beast and can out wheel most others at the same lift/tire size, but hey, that's an 80 for you!

I say go for it if you are tired of choking on trail dust with no a/c... ;) 🦀

been out with a few and they can go hard... factory rear locker on lots of them makes it even better... some also have A-trac on demand instead of always active!
for wheeling I have been mildly looking at them instead of the GX .... but the GX does have more room to pack stuff.
There is a great aftermarket for parts and upgrades out there as well!

I love mine, great truck for every situation. Mine is lifted with 35's but wheeled it plenty when it was stock. I do rocks though and go hard hence heavily modified. Space on the inside is less than your GX or 100 but this thing has never let me down. Colorado, through Moab, up to Yellowstone and on to Glacier Nat. Park with a family of 4......I did take an overland trailer or that wouldn't have been possible. We like to camp so, if you take the family a lot and camp/ wheel then the GX or 100 might be better.
Cheers, let me know if you have questions!
