Thursday night Zmax dragstrip will be open to the public for "test and tune". I will be going with my neighbor, but I might run my 80. We went last month and there was only about thirty cars. The track officials were just sitting there waiting on people to run. The cost is $20 to run, $5 to watch. You don't have to have a 10 second car to participate. There are no prizes to win, anybody over 18 with a drivers license and a vehicle can run. We had a blast last month trying to get my neighbors 89 GMC Sierra to break into the 13's. Then after two runs it would not start to go home. Good times.

I would like to race an FZJ80 to see exactly how much quicker they are than the trusty 3FE.

So....anybody wanna race?:D

So bring your Firechicken out there. You probably need to dust it off anyway. When was the last time you got a time slip?

Cool beans.

I grew up close to Fremont Drag Strip that did the same thing. I'd take my Yamaha RD350 out there and see what it could do. It was the beginning of my "issues" with modifying things. I wound up replacing all the steel with fiberglass (but the tank), had custom chambers, rear sets, took off the oil injection and just mixed the gas in a can. I couldn't keep the front end on the ground through 4th gear, wheelie bars would have been nice to have back then...

I might be down to go watch.

If only i had some 285's to make it even :D

but i cant afford to blow a transmission at the moment so im gonna have to pass, but take some video for us

Well since I haven't owned my firebird for over 6 years i'd say over 6 years ago. Last slip said 12.4 though.

Cool car, cool step-mom.

Nah i'll never get to drive that car. Don't really want to either. My buddy used to have one and the only nice thing I had to say about the car after driving, racing and working on it is it is pretty. :D

I should tow the wife's 325i and give it a run. Then I'll take the tow rig and blow her doors off. :D

I'm definitely going to run now. My neighbor has not made any significant changes to his truck since last month and wants to ride with me.

So let's turn this into "Pass Time".

No mods to speak of. I'm running 33's on factory 16's. I have already removed my rear storage (trying to save gas, didn't work). Right now my 80 weighs 5020lbs. with me and a half tank of gas. I will remove the spare from underneath (~60lbs.), air up the tires, and possibly remove the second row seats (~60lbs?). Any other ideas for a faster time in a 4wd? Driving tips? It's been about 8 years since my last pass at a drag strip, and that was in a 93 Cobra Mustang.

So what do you think I will run?

My guess high 16's, and that might be ambitious.

In the 18's. I would be very suprised if it came anywhere near a 16 second pass.

19.3

That is great! I'll go out in a limb and say that you were the only LC there today?
