I'm looking for a clam shell rooftop tent. I've researched a bunch and the Ironman Swift 1400 looks pretty good for a decent price.
Ironman has 25% off which would bring the price to $2350 shipped.

The mattress is a good size 7.2' x 4.6' and being I'm 6'2" seems I would fit comfortably.
The only drawback is it weights 215lbs and not sure how well the Land Cruiser will handle with that weight on the roof.
I will be installing it to a prinsu roof rack.

Any feedback would be great!
Thanks

I think the LC has pretty good roof load rating. I don't know what it is exactly and there's always some debate on it but I think it has at least capacity for 250lbs. So it should at least be able to handle it. That being said 215lbs is quite heavy for that style of tent. There are many manufacturers that have the same style tent likely built from the same factory in China that come in at 150lbs. I'm not sure why the ironman4x4 version weights 60lbs more but it seems unnecessarily heavy. It's a great price but I'm not sure it's worth the weight penalty.

It’s made of iron, man.

Would you keep the tent permenantly mounted? Could be a lot of weight to wrangle otherwise

Agree, although I have an electric winch attached to the rafters that I use to take my alucab on and off - it is around 170#.

I need to do this. My new iKamper @165lbs is heavy enough that manual hoists take lots of pulling force and I question the durability. Time for a electric hoist and steel cables.

It is a heavy beast. We simply put the tent on our freight scale and posted the honest true weight. It is true that many other brands have a similar product. I'll double-check with my product team and confirm the weight for you. Hope this helps!

For those suggesting other options due to the weight of the Swift 1400, keep in mind that it is substantially larger that the others at a lower price. At 6'4", both my head and feet would be touching either end of the mainstream clamshell RTTs. Not with the Swift 1400, I can lay and not touch either end of the tent. This, along with the good sale price currently going on, is why I selected this RTT.
