I'm keeping an eye on you Bob.........but seriously I'm interested to see this product as I didn't come across it in my research.

They build some very attractive products in Australia.

DRIFTA Camping Kitchens - 4WD Fitouts

Price seems on par with the others, about $1500 for a pair. However shipping those heavy large boxes from Australia would run you several hundred dollars more.

I'm wondering if the lift out boxes can be bolted down to the cargo area?

I talked to Luke a couple months ago and at that time, he was visiting the US and brought over a shipping container of Drifta products to Washington State.

DRIFTA - US Orders

"The freight from Aust to USA works out to about $100 on each kitchen, depending on size. Say a DCB – Drifta Car Back, one of our most popular kitchens, would be $75 freight to USA, then about $50 freight to your place.. the price I have discounted from $680 to $590, so that would cost you about $715 delivered to your door. Some of the other kitchens I can discount also, to help make it more affordable."

Well, I pulled the trigger and got a set of the Drifta D2DwT Two drawers with the pull out/removable/free standing table. The customer service was excellent and I've had some great conversations with the owner Luke. He had a slightly used set that were used on a trip in the US this summer. He knocked a few bucks off and sent them out with a set of his wings. I must admit, I'm impressed with them. I had a chance to see some of the other drawer systems in use during a recent 'hundy run' in Colorado. They all have their plus and minuses. I chose the Drifta units for a couple of reasons. They seem to be reasonably priced for a non 'home built' set. The slide mechanism is made of a set of 'teflon' like friction slides. Nothing to get dusty or squeaky and also more room for the actual drawer contents. The pullout table is COOL! It can be used as a slide out counter surface or as a stand alone table. The whole unit seemed fairly light. My wife and I installed them without any issue. The only negative I could find was the mounting. Luke sent four turnbuckles which attached to premounted catches on the sides. The rear ones worked good but the front ones weren't quite lined up. This is due to the fact that the drawers were used previously in a Suburban. I had two old ratchet straps that were pressed into service and they work great! I had to cut the side wings to fit but even with my limited wood craft skills (I haven't figured out how to weld boards back together after you cut them too short), it was easy. If anyone is thinking about a set of rear drawers or even one of the Drifta kitchens, I recommend sending Luke an email to see what he has. Feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions or want some pictures.

Here's a few pics...

The first one is Daisy approved (holds enough dog food to qualify)

The second is 'sans Daisy'
