I'd love to have a couple (or more) of these nice surplus NATO cans from the surplus place in Fullerton.
One very nice fellow (of course: 80 and Socal, right... :) ) already volunteered to get me some but there may be somebody who lives or works closer, so that might be less of an imposition.

Just thought I'd ask... Please PM if you could do it easily and would not mind...

can't wait for SnT!

I might be in the Fullerton area next Wed. I will be electrical supply shopping and would not mind picking up a tank or two for myself (and you too Eric).

David,

Where is this place? I will see if it is anywhere near where I will be.

Anyone else want any?

Maybe headed there myself for a couple.Heres the address...

American Army Surplus

2584 Fender Ave # D
Fullerton, CA 92831

that would be terrific. TIA.

Please confirm if you are sure to go, I'll PM for $ details etc

Yep thats the place.

Smit.. you heading to ORVAC? (love that dang place)

I is. I am going to follow Mo's lead on his radio wiring and go ahead and wire in an aux. fuse box. Then replace my factory cig lighter (mine is broken) and add an additional one somewhere. Also running my CB power off the aux. fuse so that I can use them all with the rig not running. Orvac looks like it is only a mile or so away from the Army Surplus. I have never been but Mo (and now you) speak very highly of it.

Smit, you know that the factory cig lighter has a fusible link, right? you can just bypass it and it's good to go again - there is a fuse too (but be careful about the loads...)

Thread hijack in progress - there used to be a little hole in the wall electrical place in MV on El Toro Blvd that's now gone. Sounds like this Orvac is one of those places.

Where in South OC is there a good place for electrical stuff that isn't readily available at Home Despot, etc.?

Yep Orvac is the bomb.

Been going there for years. Kinda like the electronic nerd super store. I just dabble. There's also Ford electronics down by fullerton airport too. Just not as big, but still have tons of hard to find items. Also, locally is SAV ON electronics off the 22 fwy in Garbarge Grove. As far as south county... i don't know off hand.

Orvac is right down the street from my work practically. I'm at the 91 and brookhurst.

Found Mar Vac in Costa Mesa.

I am not 100% sure what you are talking about (maybe not even 10%). The actual structure of my cig lighter is broken (how I have no idea--PO), so I will have to replace it anyways. Are you telling me that I can replace it and use the OEM wiring and still be able to use it when the rig is not on? Is it easy to do? b/c wiring it to the aux. fuse will be very easy too. My aux fuse box will have 6 spots so I will still have some left over.

I was going to tell you that but you beat me to the punch. ;p

Smit, I ran 10 guage two the new power ports becuase I plan on runing an inverter and other high draw items that were not common and planned for when the truck was built. I like to build for extreme overkill so when I am in Baja and have consumed many  Pacifico's and come up with a great idea to watch a DVD on my laptop but the battery is dead so I need the inverter and ..... You get the idea. If you only plan on cell phone charging, ipods etc you will be fine with the factory wiring.

I also plan "other" larger items and will be very upset if I have to go in there and upgrade the wiring down the road. Therefore, Mo, you have yet again inspired me to think overkill. I like it.

no, I was guessing that when you said the lighter was broken, you meant that there was no juice. If it's structurally broken, then it's a different story.

I'm In Fullerton Eric. PM me if you need the help.

thanks, Sam. Very kind to offer.
Scott is going tomorrow so I think we're good.
