yes, I found some instructions on the web but there are some contradictions and it would be great to know of a reliable source (i.e. a Mudder) that has done it before I go in and do some serious changes to the thing.
Anybody? All OK afterwards? R1288? The frontmost resistor in the row?

Another curious question, what would you be using the radio for if you set it up to transmit outside the HAM bands? Do you work in a scenario that uses those frequencies? Just curious.

I crushed the diode as shown below. I needed a magnifying glass to even see the little bugger - it is extremely tiny. I have a set of needle nose tweezers that worded fine.

I will not transmit out of band in the unless there is absolutely no other opportunity for comms. I'd rather get help and face any penalties alive, than the other alternative...

so you have a 7800R US version and you did the first resistor as in the middle pic (not the lower german one) and it works fine. That correct?

It is legal to transmit on any frequency in a life-threatening situation.

up, I removed the bottom diode as shown in the english text. Again, I needed a magnifying glass to even see the little bugger...

OK, I may do mine then.

(Where do you live that I can come by and say Hi if I do it and my radio stops working...? :D)
