.....RE-BOOT? I got in my 100, turned the key, the lights QUICKLY came on then all was dead for about a 45 seconds. Then, one by one all power systems came back (dome lights, dashlights, ignition, etc), the truck started and everything worked....however, the the idle was high to start (meaning it had lost it's stored settings...the truck was warmed up, etc) and all my radio presets were erased as well as clock at 12:00.

No faulty battery connections were found. ??? ??? ???

Was this at home or on a street? Possibly a theft attempt / perceived theft attempt that triggered a cut-off from the alarm system?

It was in a parking lot. Nothing looked suspicious. I did think (because the 100 never has done this?) that when I turned the key I might have pushed a button on the key. Not sure? It was really wierd.

If somebody doesn't have the proper key and turn the switch does the thing go dead? Clock, presets and all?

I had this happened to me. It turned out to be a weak battery. It was strong enough to keep the clock and the radio settings fine, but just not enough juice to turn the truck over immediately. When it did, it was idling like crazy, jumping all over the place on RPMs.

I put in a new battery and the truck went through resetting and eventually things went back to normal.

OK...but no lights, locks, A/C and clock/radio resets too?

Nothing resets...Its like you never put a key in it.

Sounds like a bad electrical connection I would drive it anywhere that I could not tow it from.

Agree with Phil.
Bad connection on battery or ground , corrosion under terminals, crack in terminal or wiring lug, or internal battery connection failure (that is a crack in the connection between the posts and the cells or between an individual cell, yes it happens) Also check main fusible link connection
