Hey gents,

I'm getting a little frustrated with my Weber Carb http://www.webercarbsdirect.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=WK746-34 and was wondering if anyone in the area claimed to be experts on it...

I'm experiencing an interesting occurrence,

The problem occurs when the secondary's engage- Driving or if you engage them by hand. It appears that the stream doesn't 'sprinkle' when they first open, instead it drops a not-so-steady dribble of gas into the intake- Which causes surging and makes my truck completely impossible to drive unless you mash the throttle, or drive under 45mph.

I've cleaned the carb, I've taken it apart and cleaned everything today, and it still does it.

I fixed this problem once by eliminating the secondary and running off of the primary- The problem is my 37's require a little more 'umph' to move them.

Thanks for the help,
Jayston

I hope this helps anyone that watches, the change in rpm/behavior is the slightest touch on the linkage that controls the secondarys. Im flabbergasted that none of the old school mechanics around here can help!

I'm no Weber expert (never owned one - just tinkered with one on a cruiser), but it seems the issue is an airflow problem. The atomization that you don't get immediately when the blade opens is a hint.

Are your secondarys closed completely?

Is your gasket on right? I know some have vacuum channels that match up with the bottom of the carb. This might not be an issue with a weber.

How about the adapter? Since it's a 2 piece, it's got more parts to fail. Are they perfectly flat?

I saw on your other thread that jets were suggested. I don't think those will be the cause, but I wouldn't rule them out.

Good luck! :wrench:

The jets are the problem, according the weber themselves. Sent me some free, good trade for dealing with the accent.

Dang Lilj, just how bad is your accent??

:D

:flipoff2:

Im pretty sure the guy was fresh out of italy, or i was transferred to italy.

You'd think the university would help with my accent, not make it worse
