Any recommendations? Suffered two cracked chips.

Will replace with all OEM parts

Much obliged

I haven't had to get mine replaced down here yet. Might try giving "The Truck Shop" a call and see who they recommend.

Depending on the shape of your moldings and if the glass has been replaced before or not...you may want to order new. I will need to on my next new window.

Report back who you find and how it goes.

Going to get oem windshield from stealership. Looks like the damaged windshield is an original.

OEM = $$$$. Been happy with Pilkington. :meh:

My windshield has sensor around the edge, did the Pilkington have that also? Did your rig come with this feature? Is it rain sensor?

I know OEM is costly but I researched this thread, just wanted to be sure that the quietness of the Lexus quality is preserved unless further research warrants otherwise. I will make some calls after the new year to see what else is out there but I am prepared to shell out for OEM.

I'm not sure that the Lexus glass will have as much to do with the quietness as a good install will. Just make sure they are a good shop and do good work. I'm on my 4th or 5th window now. The original moldings just dont go back like they did new any more. So, next window I will need to install all new moldings, and have some rust around the frame repaired. After as many windows as I have had installed, the paint has inevitably gotten some small scratches and such and now I have a couple bad spots of rust at the top of the window.

Sorry, my bad. I'm on the mobile app, and didn't see you had a Lexus. I have LC and an happy with non OEM. Not sure you have a choice...

Safelite in Mira Mesa has put in several windshields in our LC. They do excellent work and warranty their service. phil

Fellas,

Had my windshield replaced (Bronze) by Safelite today in Miramar. They recommended after 6 hours of completion to leave sunroof slightly opened to relief cabin pressure so I can't tell if there is any leak or not. I have to also remove some tapes after twenty four hours and at that time we will see whether or not there was any leak. It's lifetime warranty.

I did request for Pilkington but they steered me to their in house brand which "exceeded OEM specs" lifetime warranty and yada yada.... Plus new windshield wiper blades all for under $300.00

However, after I left I noticed that my rear view mirror vibrates now ( the vibrating image really bothered me), it didn't before the replacement. I am willing to wait after 24 hours to test for wind leakage and then hoping that the vibration reduces or disappear (though I doubt it).

I checked visually and feeling the mirror and it appeared to be re-installed correctly.

What would cause the vibration? Can't be just because the windshield is new and is in the process of settling in.

Any suggestions?

Many Thanks,

Tim

Hmmm... I have never had an issue with the rearview mirror vibrating in any annoying fashion on any brand of glass and I am on my 5th windshield I think....

Take all the plastic parts off. Inspect them and the little puck the gets glued to the Window. Then reinstall and see if it gets any better.
