Any Toyota 2-DIN stereo work in 80?

Yes and no, the radios out of the 80s will interchange with some of the other Toy cars and trucks. I have used my CD/Cass out of my 91 when my 97 took a crap. It did plug in. My 97 has an amp, but it did not affect the workings. I have bought a few Supra radios out of late 80s cars and plugged them into the 62, and the 80. I would think that if you stay in the general year model range they might plug in. I would check with Cruiser Dan to see if the theft replacement wiring kit is the same for the radio in question vs the year of the 80 series radio.

92 camry to 93 cruiser had different plugs, but the adapter was only eight dollars....

Side Note: If you're paying for any part of it you might as well just get a new after market headunit. It would cost u the same price.

Replacing stock radio w/ another stock

I don't know 3fj40's reasons, but for me it is all about anti theft. Who wants to steal a stock radio? I got so tired of replacing stolen radios when I was younger that I just started leaving the stock radios in. I think I have had 7 radios stolen over about 15 years. I even had breakins where they stole the chasis of a pull out unit, the head unit wasn't even in the car. Do I miss the quality of an after market HU, yes. I don't miss scrounging around junk yards for replacement dash pieces. Years ago I had a Jeep Comanche with the POS triangle vent window. That window was broken into so much I finally had to replace the whole window frame.

I would love to put a navigation screen in someday, but I don't think I ever will unless I can find a way for it to be completely hidden and stock looking. I might replace the stock HU with a Nachamichi someday as they are the most stock looking after market that I have seen, but I don't know if I care that much about it to do it.

I would love to replace the HU, I am just tired of being broken into.
