for removing the studs on the rear axle housing? Found out AFTER I was trying to tighten up the nuts to replace my old 3rd with a new/old 3rd that they are all gimped up!

Thanks!

Use 2 nuts to lock together and thread them out. Or go buy a stud extraction tool. It's a surrounding tool with a cam action that grips and unthreads the stud, but it buggers the threads so it's for disposable stud use only!

Auto parts stores have replacement studs for you. You won't be down for long.

I just replaced a couple of the 3rd member studs on my rear axle. They're in there kinda tight, because of thread sealant from the factory. I found if I hit 'em with heat first, then a little penetratant, and used the double-nut method, they came out pretty easy.

And if you buy new studs that don't have sealant on the threads, use some.
