Had it out overnight and now it is significantly larger and I can't get it back in the groove.
thanks

I had the same problem and put the O-ring in the freezer for a bit to try and shrink it down. This and putting a little CST oil on it to get it to stick in the groove seemed to do the trick.

Patience, 2 hands - 4, if you have assistant. I takes some gentle coaxing to convince it to get back in the groove. But it will go back in there. Did I mention patience? You kind of trap the part that's left over and compress it back on it's self gently. Yes, I know, you wonder how did it ever fit in there, but patience is your friend.

Im not sure the freezer did much but soaking that oring in oil made all the difference in the world.
thanks

Fan Clutch O-Ring

just had a slight freak out but thankfully i found this thread as i was about to go in search of a new ring.

it DOES indeed go back in :p

i think just coating it in the oil for about 10 minutes or so and is the trick as its then sticky enough to hold.

just use both hands to press from opposite sides and with some patience and a few tries you should be able to get it to lay down flat.

this little project turned into a real pain for me with a stripped bolt and stripped nut and was about to come unglued when i thought my o-ring had magically grown overnight. thank goodness for ih8ud - us one banana folks  truly couldn't do this without all the help.
