My 01 100 Series still has the horrid factory pin striping on it. It's gotta come off. Any suggestions on how to get 12 year old pin striping off? I've tried Goo Gone and Goof Off and no luck.

Unfortunately, I don't have the patience to stand there and try and peel it off centimeter by centimeter. Also, any suggestions on how to get the color back once taken off?

3M Rubbing Compound is an excellent choice for making scratches and marks disappear on your car. It safely and effectively removes grade 1200 or finer sand scratches, other fine scratches, medium oxidation, coarse swirl marks, factory pin striping, and the fake gold plating from pseudo-luxury automotive emblem kits. It leaves a fine finish. It comes in a liquid form for easy application.

To remove, 3M eraser wheel (or one of the many other brands out there). And then find trails with over grown sagebrush or what have you to blend the surface differences together.

I think that's because your striped area were covered away from the sun. The surrounding area has faded whereas the striping did not.

I think I used the Eastwood version eraser wheel on my 80 and 100. But both vehicles were garage kept. I can see how sun beaten pin striping could fuse it to the paint.

I would think you want to get it hot in the sun and then you're stuck peeling the decal off. After the decal is gone some of the suggested products should help with the adhesive residue. Recruit some neighborhood kids to do the peeling perhaps. Alternately you could drop it off at a detail shop.

The eraser wheel did not work for me, maybe my drill sucks,

What kind of drill did you use? I don't wanna go drop $45 on something that may not even work well for me.

Some Goo Gone on the pin stripes and the 3M eraser wheel worked great. Thanks everyone!
