I got the jet sizes from SOR for the 75 carb (2F) engine. You asked me a question.... remember, I just can't help myself.:bounce2:

Maybe bad logic, but thought the fuel requirements would be greater for the 2F versus the F --- so, thought I would allow more juice to flow -- I have many variables that seem to affect the running of this rig whereas my 72 FJ 40 (stock) just runs well.

Gets Complicated -- and I am simple minded::beer:

Yes, will be using the Non-USA carb -- it is currently sitting with 1.12 Primary and 2.00 Secondary, but have NOT tried it out yet (this carb will allow the vacuum advance distributor to function for me -- I hope). I have been using a 74 USA carb (no vacuum line hooked to dizzy - carb vacuum line plugged) with a 1.14 Primary and 2.00 secondary with a "linkage set-up" - will convert the Non-USA carb to linkage from the 74. Have not been able to drive do to no throttle linkage control -- other thatn stealing from my 72 FJ40

With 74, cylinders 2,3,4,5 burn well but 1 and 6 are problems (maybe the intake/exhaust manifold gasket) but have not been able to fully diagnose (too many non-stock variables --- 69 HI-PO intake, header, maybe leaking intake/exhaust gasket, non-USA distributor). Plug one, fires intermittently at low rpm, but 6 fires like the other 4 -- well (replaced plugs, wires, cap, -- points look good and set at 41-42 degrees) -- grounds have been checked.

Timing is set on the "bb" with no vacuum line hooked up. Compression is 142-146 across all 6 cylinders. I think engine is good -- valves seem a little loud in comparison to my 72 FJ40.

Thats my story and I am sticking to it:bounce:

Opinions: do I stick with the 114 Primary and 200 secondary or give it more juice --

Mine are 1.12 and 1.80, I think (1977 CA spec). I tried toying with jets and such at one time, and in the end I realized I was compensating for other issues. Get everything working right, and probably what you have will work fine. Even on five cylinders! I tend to run lean, if possible, but I'm an economy addict.

Your outside cylinders (1 & 6) are going to run leaner. Longest runners get less aerosolized/more liquid fuel...if they're missing, I'd suspect it's too lean, running a 1.12 primary.
Does the miss in #1 at low RPM change if you richen the idle mixture? I've owned more lean-idle misses than any other kind...
My displacement might be slightly more than yours (Bored 50 over) and I like the 1.18 primary
I can give you a 1.14 and a 1.18 and 1.8 and a 2.0 but no 2.3

also, remember two things...
1) Nobody is going to know your 'Cruiser like you. SOR sez 2.3, shoot, they got a book that shows an engine just like yours? It's going to be trial and error from here on out my friend.
B) These are tractor engines, not F1. They run on anything. Throw any old carb on just about any old manifold and bolt it up. It will start. Fine tuning is usually futile.

Your engine sounds fine, lets get these pieces to you so you can get it running. I don't like all this theoretical crap, let's do nuts & bolts.

More good news;
Found the air cleaner to head bracket. But, there's oil in the bottom of your air cleaner (wonder how that got there). I either gotta drain and clean or wrap it real good in plastic before I ship...

Computer went down -- couldn't get access.

On the jets:

"I can give you a 1.14 and a 1.18 and 1.8 and a 2.0 but no 2.3" You convicned me to stay smaller.

Go for the 1.18 (P) and the 1.8 (S) -- I have the others

The air cleaner --- must have needed a quick oil change one day. Don't think a 74 had an oil bath did it? Sounds good to me.

Not available until Saturday -- Will be a bit busy till Tuesday and can get Newton going next week to get it done so I can play with the nuts and bolts.

Thanks and Merry Christmas guys!!!!

Cool.
