Looking for a run within a hundred or so miles of LA, day run any day this holiday weekend.

Anyone?

John Bull on Monday morning, running with crusiers, broncos and what ever else showes up
maybe Holcomb or Dishpan if time is available
gonna be a early start 800 in Big Bear
let me know if you want to go:D

The high desert roundup is this weekend. It can give you a chance to explore the Stoddard Valley area and the adjacent Johnson Valley. It is a very large event; the desert becomes a mini-city. The Big Bear trails are relatively close.

Where are you guys meeting up at in Big Bear?

Don't waste your time driving dishpan. You may be able to access it from the 3N16 side of the trail, but the 3N34 (arrowhead side) is shut down until the end of June for tree removal. Was up there 3 weeks ago and had a long drive to get around dishpan and to holcomb creek. Have fun, the weather will be incredible this weekend. Around 80 degrees lately.

well, I received info from the USFS that 3N34, 3N34C, and 3W12 were opened to the public this week after the timber gyrus wrapped up their project from the '03 fires. This includes Dishpan Springs and Deep Creek.

snailwagon are you going out to Stoddard this weekend if so i would like to go out there and roll around some.

anybody interested?
we are leaving Yucaipa about 8-830 and should be in BB about 9-9;30
gonna run Gold Mountain to John Bull

A few of us ran Dishpan Springs today. John and Paul did an awesome job guiding us through what I consider to be the best re-opened trail in the San Bernardino National Forest after the '03 fires. While driving in to the trailhead, it looks like a war scene. I lost count of how many cabin homes were lost during the wildfire season. But was distracted quickly by the enormous ruts, v-notches, and rocks. We ended our day with zero breakage near Green Valley.

If you are looking for a fun and challenging So Cal trail...this is it! :)

well John Bulls little turn on the Eastbound route is getting real nasty, with the 40 I crawled over that tree root and stump, the 80 had no Bueno and now needs some serious body work:crybaby: , the East bound route may just become impassable as more dirt is pull out of around that hole.

how about some pics guys from vicarious folks strapped to a desk...

Nice to hear Dishpan is open again. There were signs up there with the July date, so that is what I assumed. Last time I ran it was 4 or 5 months ago. It was fun then, an wet. That really is one of the nicer trails around here. Once you get into the trail a bit, you no longer see the devastation.

what about this weekend june 3-4th anyone going out?

I'm out until after the Rubithon...:D

As long as my rig and I survive, I'm open to early July. I was hoping to visit our adopt-a-trail, if we can get it together after.

You got that right - buddy with his new FJ Cruiser and I just took a little spin up to Santiago Peak along main ridge and outside temp sensor hit 102. What ever happened to June gloom in SoCal. Looks like we may have gotten it out of the way with May gray this year (until you look out the window this morning). :D
