05 LX has its rear end way up in the air.....it's happened a couple times now, and since it is now off active duty (mommy is back driving the van for summer) I need to fix it.

Has anyone had any extended success with taking the rear AHC height sensor off and cleaning it, or should I just bite the bullet and spend $250 buying a new one? (ouch)!

If I'm only going to get a few months out of it and have It fail again in mid January next year, I'll just put a new sensor on.

I already adjusted it and it didn't help.

Thanks:)

YES. If it's not too fubar. I.e: some corrosion can be fixed - and lid sealed up better.
There's a thread or two about it in here....

Didn't look too bad when I opened it up. Cleaned and reinstalled, now the rear is so high I can't get it out of the garage. Spiffy design, Toyota. I'll go order the $300 sensor now:(

Did yo measure it?
About 5 kohm +-20% across, and the center contact varying smoothly from close to zero to 5k. And in the middle position, when the car is at Normal height, about 2500 kohm on the center.

Dealer says all three height sensors need to be replaced. LX is sitting a bit lower than our other one, and was riding rather harsh. Seems odd to me that all three would go. Thoughts?

On what basis does he think all three need replacing? TechStream shows exactly what the output of each sensor is, so there is some good empirical evidence. If it's a bit lower than your other one maybe the other one is too high;) one of the PDFs I posted yesterday has the procedure to check overall vehicle height and how to adjust the sensors for more/less lift. Have him check that PDF out and talk you through why you need $1000 in part replacements. Good luck.
