I'm not sure in which forum this belongs...

But, I'm looking for 'technical references' - good and/or bad - regarding

Oregon Engine Rebuilders, Inc.
20740 SE Firwood Road
Sandy, OR 97055

Anyone??

Thanks!!

also contact matt and land cruiser NW. i have dealt with both, although not for an engine rebuild. both are competent in what they do. tim is more into modified vehicle in my opinion, but would do a good job on any 2f rebuild. matt is more into stock vehicle and retaining that i would say. and again, he would do a good job on a rebuild too. personally i would lean more towards matt for this particular chore.

i had tim quote me a rebuild on my 78 2f with similar issue you are having. said to budget $8000 all said and done. when i asked matt, told him issues, he said he would happily do it, but recommend i just drive it until its completely dead.

Thanks Andy!

That's what I'm going to do... drive it until one of us dies or I find a good replacement 2F. But, I like to know what's down the road... just in case.

Portland engine rebuilders are good, I've had 4 engines I've taken to them and had built one was my 2f around 4yrs ago and have had 2 383 strokers with ported and polished head and oversized valves and a 390 ford taken 60 over. All had a a one year or a milage on them, I could blow it up and they would fix it and not play 20 questions with you. At least give them a call they have stuff on hand also.

Tim and Matt are pretty over priced one what they have and labor in my opinion I would shop around landcruiser new does mostly newer last I talked to them but landcruiser specialties does 40 and 60s but he does have a big storage unit if you need parts and can't find them but you gotta bug him a lot to get things done
