I saw an ad in the Burlington paper today for a 1977 FJ40 and went to check it out. It has the original 2F and a clean and clear title. Right now, it has been partially taken apart, although the engine and tranny are still mounted. Seats, hood, top, fenders, etc have been removed and are sitting in his shop. The last time the engine ran there were 2 cylinders testing around 110 or so, the rest were good. The truck looks very solid. Body is in great shape. Worst spots are the bottom corners of the quarter panels where they were caved in. Rear sill, floors all looked really good. Ambulance doors had a little rust in the corners as usual, as well as the doors. Chassis looks solid. He also has another rig that is for parts. The body is very rusted, but it has a lot of parts, including front and jump seats in good shape. There are basically 2 drive lines for the project (2 engines, tranny, etc).

The owner is a retired man who was going to rebuild it, but hurt his back and just cannot continue. He seems knowledgeable and also had an old Jag and Rolls Royce in his shop. Really, really nice and very open and honest. He has $2000 OBO on it, but I bet he would come down on that some. The rig seems pretty solid and has 2 sets of wheels (including the original wheels). Check out the pics. If you are interested, PM me and I'll give you the number. It will need to be hauled off.

What year was the roller???

From the pics 2k seems a bit on the high side but seems solid enough.
