Any interest in these emblems?

I have had a handful of requests over the last few weeks to make the FZJ and FJ front grille badges. Before I made a batch I wanted to know if there was enough interest. I had quite a bit of interest in the "80" badges through pm's, emails, on the thread, and phone calls so I made a large batch of them, then only one person purchased one. That cost me a lot of money in filament with almost zero return. I can't do that again. If you want to know what the "80" badges are then look here:

I would be happy to make a batch of the FZJ and FJ badges but I need to know there are buyers for them. Here are some pics so you guys can see the final design. I made one prototype of the finished design which I already passed on to another member. I can make 4 options. There is the "FJ" that can mount on the LX or Yota and the "FZJ" that can also mount on the LX and Yota. If you are seriously interested in buying one them please post that on here or shoot me a PM. Thanks. I will let this thread run a few days before I decide to make a batch or not.

Disregard the weird flange at the bottom. That is part of the break away supports.

Just received my FZJ grill emblem and it looks beautiful!! Down right stunning. Also, got the 80 for rear. It's not as stunning as the FJZ with honeycomb but a nice addition.

I'm glad you like it. So is TahoeLX450 the only person who wanted one? If that's the case then he got the only one. If there are people out there that want these speak up now or forever hold your peace.

Well it's been 3 days and no reponses. I guess the folks who originally wanted one have changed their mind. I am putting this project on the shelf. If someone really wants one then you need to PM me, but don't wait for them to show up on ETSY or a large batch to be made at a later time, because they wont be. I took the time to make the prototype and got it and the print file all dialed in so I can make them, but they will be made individually on request and made to order.

Brad, I know you got a lot on your plate right now, but you should turn that printer into a resto device and print some high tensile strength steering column clamshells. Those things break like 1000 year-old china and are hard to find replacements for. I've got a broken one now and have been searching like mad for a "parting out" vehicle to replace it...Just a thought. The material used to make them should be minimal and every cruiser on the planet either does or will need one.

Your the 3rd person to request that part. I would need one in my hands to take measurements from. There are a few plastics out there that are CRAZY strong that would be a signicant strenght improvement over the existing OEM plastic part. I actaully have a spool of the T-Glass, Bridge, and Carbon fiber, plastics. I bought them in hopes that I could use them for the cupholders. No luck there, but they would be perfect for the steering column. The t-glass is what they use to make bullet proof glass so it is stupid strong. Once I get my current projects wrapped up I can definately look into this.

Yeah my clam shell was really borked up and it took me almost 3 days of epoxy, sanding, filling and paint to get them to almost original condition. The Achilles heal of the clamshell steering column design is the screw posts. People wrench on those fling dings and crack the mandingo out of them. Tighter isn't better in the automotive world... What you do in your bedroom is another thing. :flipoff2:

i have my fzj without the clam shell :( let me know if u ever let this happen Brad , deffinitely in line for one ...

Could someone post of picture of this clam sheell steering column thing so I can get an idea of what we are talking about. I want to make sure it's dimensions could fit on my print flatform. I can print up to 12"x12" and 11" tall.

Used my Xbox One controller as a reference...

Wow. That is quite a bit bigger then I was thinking in my head. That has a LOT of curves and not a lot of flat surface to print on. I would have to build a very complicated support system/platform that would give me enough surface area to stick the print to. It would need to be strong enough to keep the print glued to the flatform while printing (to prevent warping and cracking), but weak enough to break away with minor force after printing. It would be challenging but definately doable. Looks like another item of my list of future projects. Somehow the light at the end of the tunnel keeps getting further away.

I could see myself going through a LOT of prototypes before I got that print perfected. The more curves then the harder it is to print. My best bet would be to print that AFTER I get the 2nd head installed. I could print the object in ABS and the supports in a watersoluable plastic. That way I could go way overkill on the supports and then just soak it over night and the supports are gone. Once I get a 2nd head that is how I will do all of my printing. It's just an expense I can't handle right now. My credit card isn't looking too good right now and if I pile on anymore expenses my wife is going to kill me.

Very few things in life are worth getting killed over. ;)

Honestly I think a part like this would be better getting done the old fashion cast method. I could see doing them out of aluminum or pot metal. Anyways don't get yourself killed you have to many other things to create. :)

I just came across this thread and I would definitely like it FZJ badge. I would actually like it for the rear of my vehicle. I'm not sure how to PM on the site. If you could contact me I'd definitely like to arrange payment and secure a badge.
