Any idea what might cause a sudden brake deterioration?

They got bad. Real bad. Real quick.

Before I drove it today, they were spongy, but worked well enough that I could slow down enough to swerve around whatever I was trying to avoid without rolling.

Now, I put the pedal to the floor going 25mph and it just kinda glides to a gradual stop.

Can I get a "Not good?"

Thoughts? Ruptured brake line maybe? Sudden leak in the master cylinder or something?

Thanks!

Check the soft lines that go the axles.

If you have non-stock brake lines, apparently some of these can leak where the softline goes into the connector.

Master cylinder itself could also be toast. That's easy to check. Hold firm steady pressure on the pedle and see if it just goes all the way to the floor.

Could be lots of things. Just start troubleshooting by digging in there. Leaking piston, bad MC, broken hard line, bulging soft line......

Maybe a bad lspv? I would check all the calipers for fluid leaking and then would check all the soft lines and then all the hard lines. Is your undercarriage rusty? I have heard of hard lines rusting out.

The master cylinder checks out after testing as instructed by ye olde FSM. I'll check the hard lines too. Reading up on searches, I'm pretty sure it's the soft lines. They ARE factory...

I just had the same problem. It was a bad brake booster. $265 from Napa and good to go now.

It should be the master pump/cylinder issue.
I had the same problem in my HZJ80 and fixed the issue by replacing the pump/cylinder.

Already checked that as shown by the FSM. Tested out fine
