any idea how to get this off

as you can see, the paint is coming off this back trim piece and so I want to remove it (along with the chrome surrounding) and paint it all with bed liner. in the meantime I've plasti-dipped this piece to disguise the ugly paint and it looks great from afar, but I want to do a better job that looks good even up close. any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize in advance if there's already a thread on this...

Just guessing here, but there are probably some bolts holding it on from the inside. Maybe remove the carpeted piece on the other side of the tailgate and take a look?

@sdnative is right, remove carpet from other side of tail gate (pop clips with trim tool) and you'll see the bolts holding it on.
