My 100 is clean as a whistle inside, and I have tiny ants in there... been there for a week straight... so I'm assumming there is a food source. I've checked everywhere and I can't find anything.

They are small enough that they come out of the console cracks and can easily make it under the tolerances in the trim panels near the door frames...

It is like they are underneath the vehicle and come in and out of the cabin when it is parked...

I'm totally baffled on this one? Has anyone had a problem like this?

I live in coastal NC, and this time of year, the ants are numbering in the billions, so they are everywhere and could easily get onto the truck from the ground when parked.

Have you looked in the engine bay? I had a nightmare at the beach a couple of years ago. Had a virtual colony in my engine bay. Not sure how they got in there, but there were thousands. As if they were attracted to the anitfreeze or something.

Toss some ant bait (Amdro, etc.) on the ground where you park, they'll be history soon.

Amdro works great for the bigger ants like fire ants and harvester ants but on the real small ones I have had better success with Terro.

I hate using poisons and would hesitate to use them inside the cabin with the idea that I am permanently contaminating my living space to deal with a temporary ant problem. I'd be fine spraying around the tires while it sat though.

yea, i sprayed mine very light. actually now that i think about it, the cabin smelled like the poison for a few days and i probably wouldnt do it again until i tried other solutions first.

I wouldn't put poison inside the vehicle, just on the groud where you park. My guess is that the ants aren't flying in...

If you get a bait, and the colony is IN the vehicle, that would theoretically help kill the colony.

My wife had fire ants in her car while she lived in Texas. She used laundry soap sprinkled in the trunk where the ants were. They moved out in a hurry, I’d try that before I used poison.
DMX

For a nest of fire ants in my vehicle, I might make an exception and break out the DDT.

Even using Amdro/Terro I am conservative. To kill the colony you don't have to kill them all just get a little to the queen. Once the bait is gone you are done even if you see ants for a few days.

These are what the locals call sugar ants... just tiny ants, that are running in formation in every crack in the sidewalk, and every edge of every building, and on every tree branch this time of year here at the beach...

They have been harmless, but I'll try spraying the tires, because I'm not spraying anything inside, my dog will probably want to lick the stuff.

Ihave no ants...

Do not have ants, I have spiders! They are baiting nasty… Ouch!!!
I know that birds eating them, so I have enough room in my rig for birdhouse…
Or should I try something else first?
