Antenna, seems no brainer..?

I believe John said it wasn't working in a message. I personally would go the salvage yard route as third generation 4Runners do not seem that hard to find. If I didn't go with a factory power antenna I would go the soft whip style. A fixed antenna takes a beating from brush off road and believe John already had a issue with someone breaking the rear wiper on his last 4Runner doesn't make sense to give them another target. Before I did replace it I would check to see of the antenna is switching voltage when it should be up or should be down. My 3rd gen 4Runner had a aftermarket radio when I bought it and the antenna went up when ever I turned the unit on whether I was listening to the radio or a CD. When I replaced it with a factory head unit and amp it now only goes up with the radio. With a aftermarket radio it could be someone didn't wire the harness adapter right.

I hear the motor work. The staff has been broken off at the base. Just thought it would be advantageous to convert back to the oem non motorized base and the Taco whip (whips are easy to replace)..
