Hi Kevin, have you had anyone try your 60/62 series antenna mount on an 80 series? I'm interested in removing the OEM antenna and putting in the setup like you did for the 60/62.

Thanks,

Hadn't thought of that, don't think anyone has given it a shot either.
I would, but I don't have an 80 to play with... :frown:

Seriously doubt it would bolt right up, but it might be easily adapted to work.
Got any photos of how your antenna mounts?

Did you guys ever get to the bottom of this?
I just ordered my 3' Firestik, spring mount, coax and splitter and I'm planning on mounting in the OEM location on my 80.
I guess I didn't realize there may be another mounting device needed to make this happen.
If you figured this out, please let me know.

Hey AJ, nothing else came of this.

Still haven't seen how the 80 antenna mounts and still don't have an 80 to play with.
Will be getting the back half of one in a month or so, but that wont really help this. :p

Some kind of bracket will be needed since mounting an antenna like this to sheet metal will be more than the metal can handle.
If you take a look at the pics of my 60 mount you can see that it is pretty low-tech, it just takes some figuring.
I have no idea if the 80 mount is even the same kind of system though.

Well would you look at that!
Looks like the 80 is set up almost exactly the same as the 60s, a similar style mount to the one I make would work just fine there, and certainly be simpler than all those tubes and clamps.

This would be an easy enough project to iron out......... but I don't have an 80.
I'll be able to get it taken care of though.
cheers,
KR
