Lets just say that due to my being a MAYBE one banana mechanic, I had trouble with the valve adjustment. I loosened everthing I could see, Labled hoses warmed her up for a long time and then tore into her. By the time I got the cover of and got twards the middle the engine had lost most of its heat, Its my understanding that on my 91 3fe she will not run unless I put her back together. So can I dubble check her when she is cold? Can you say, just go through the valves when they are cold and maybe add up one, If the valve is .008 say udjust with the 009 to allow for expantion??
I am hoping to not tear her down again if I can dubble check before I put the engine back together for the first time.
Any advice will be appreciated
Steven

Can you adjust the valves with the motor running?
You can with the 2F. THe 3FE is just a 2F with FI right, maybe not.

Get it to full temp then pull it apart and adj the valves. If it takes longer than 15 min you are doing somthing wrong.

loquito,
personally I run it till its good and warm. remove all the air filter crap and get to teh point where I am going to pull hte cover off. start it again (not advisable if dusty out) and let it run for a few then dive in. should take you 15 - 20 minutes once the cover is off tops.

I don't have my FSM handy, but I thought you were suppose to do the valve adjustment cold??

a 3fe will not run with the valve cover off, a 2f or F will. Yes they are done hot just like a F/2F. No you can't do them cold.
