What is the largest Tire that can be mounted on Stock Rims? Can I go 35x12.5?

What rims are recommended if you want 35x12.5 tires?
Backspacing?

If your tire guy can mount them, then it's no problem.

There are a few small issues to make notice of, however. The TALLER you go, the more flex you will have in your sidewall (unless you use a bigger wheel as well) so handling may take a hit, it may not if the tire side wall is stiff enough though.

Hey there and welcome fellow Chicagoan! Where are you hiding all those cruisers at?

As far as the tires/rims... Unless they are strictly for the trail and will be aired down most of the time, I'd go with a wider rim for the 35"s. I have 31x10.5 on stock rims and the tread face on my BFG AT's is slightly ovalized due to the diff. in width of the rim and tire. I can only imagine a tire twice as wide as a stock rim being even worse.

So where are you in the city? I'm north...Addison/Elston...

Hello,

Thanks all for the quick response. I really didnt have trouble with anything else as far as choices go on other parts. I went with the heavy duty OME 4" lift kit and reversable front shakles. I also bought an ARB winch mount bumper. The Tires seem to be the hardest thing to figure out, only because I didnt want to give up the stock rims. But it seems I will have to because I dont think the trails will be kind unless I have 35"+?

I live near montrose and ashland, anytime you wanna check out my fleet feel free!

I have several "Phases" to my project, but Phase 1 Part A was suspension and front bumper.

Phase 1 Part B is tires and Rims......I guess I'll have to look for wider rims and If I do, Might as well go 37x12.5?

Lets just say there are 4 phases and 8 parts to completion.
