Wha length trailer is that Gumby? That would be perfect for a 40/camper set up!

This is an awesome idea. If I ever get to a point where I can make more than 2 events per year, I might invest in something like that.

Been thinking of a new exhaust for the generator that is on the camper. The width of the trailer made me remove the stock muffler so I'm thinking that I want to go larger.

I think I might have a spare FJ60 muffler sitting around somewhere, but I'm not sure that a small car muffler might not be a better idea.

Opinions?

Hmm perhaps a motorcycle muffler might work as well.

Find the Walker Exhaust Heavy Duty page, their online catalog lists all sorts of mufflers for tractors to school buses to off highway equipment. Can even find p/n's for stuff like 60" long, 4" dia thru diesel pick-up mufflers. Net searched that p/n and found it on a truck parts page. Best part was that it cost less than what Summit sells their premium house brand car mufflers for, never mind what the performance diesel shops want for a 4" muffler.

Had 12kW single phase genset in a race trailer at one of my past employers. It was loud and he tried a second muffler. That only made it tolerable. Not sure what the solution is except that if it is air cooled you need a really well vented and sound proofed box to put over it. Look at some of the sound insulation panels on mcmaster's page. I've used some of their panels that look a bit like "5 Bar Plate" and am REALLY impressed with it.

Picked up a 4 banger muffler off of a honda car. 1.5" exhaust and monstrous. Gotta do a better job than the 4" muffler the thing had to begin with. Course, the damn generator itself is what really makes the noise, but it is definitely louder without anything lol.

I also found a ambulance in the junkyard as well. It has some really nice full height access doors on the sides. I may pick two up and see if I can integrate them into the side compartments. Course, it'll all depend on dimensions available.

Kinda like this. Not the door with the window, but the access panel in front of it.

Ambulance doors were way too long, but I did find a utility bed that fits the bill well in the Junkyard.

$11 per door, one 6' door and one 3.5' door. Perfect to start making side storage containers out of.

I also redid the exhaust for the generator with a monster muffler out of a 4 cylinder honda. Obviously, it did not quiet the noise the generator itself creates, but it did allow me to redirect the exhaust so that it is not dumping out right next to the door...

Now to get the pics off of my camera lol

Nice, beefy anchor points on the trailer. Wish that I could say the same for mine in/on the pick-up bed.

Are you going to create stand-alone boxes or simply frame-in the side opening of the camper and attach the 'walls' to the trailer directly? Either way those doors have a lot of potential. I like it!

Boxes are going to be stand alone. I really need the camper to be as easily removable as possible.

Finally got a pic of the camper and 60 on the trailer. There is at least 9' between the bumper of the 60 and the camper. Plenty of room for "stuff".

Looks tail heavy. I had a 5th wheel engineer at a RV plant look at my numbers and he said they were perfect with my rig right over the axles. 7000lbs on the axles and 2000lbs on the truck.

Not a good way to travel. The Cruiser was placed there too see how much room i had. With nothing else, I'd locate it further forward.

and yes, I'm working on an integrated fire pit :D

Just did this for the home. 1-1/2 hrs sitting at the drill press poking a .058" hole every ~1.5" in 10' of copper tube for the gas manifold. Wot a PITA.....
Works well and :princess: is very happy with it.

EDIT: What I was thinking was either full enclosure boxes, or just panels the enclose the sides without actually connecting to the camper itself.
