Snowstorm last weekend took out our Sienna so we have a Chevy Traverse as a rental. Went out yesterday to clean the new round of ice and snow off the Chevy and my LX. It was abot 15 out so I ran them both for about 10 minutes to warm up before trying to scrape. Get the windshield on the Chevy done when I noticed the wipers on the LX had pushed some snow and ice halfway down so I ran over to turn off the wipers so as not to burn them out. Low and behold everything just wiped off. Proceeded to pretty much just wipe off the rest of the windows on the LX. Finished and went back to SCRAPING off the windows on the Chevy.

15 YO LX470 1. Brand new Chevy Traverse 0.

My LX takes FOREVER to warm up compared to my previous Jeeps (LJ & WJ). Its just about the only thing I don't like about it as a winter vehicle.

You really only need to warm it up about 5 minutes to get the oil flowing, after that you can drive it as long as you keep the RPM's low.

My 99 does great. But my f150 takes a very long time to warm up. No comparison between the two. Ford does not equal a Land Cruiser. Not even close.

At 20F, I have heat after driving a mile and a half up a rural road to what we call a "highway".

At 0F, it takes another half mile or so until the temp gauge is in it's normal spot.

Rear heat is on in both instances, with the rear control set to melt-down.

No issues with heat in winter whatsoever...there's only about 4 gallons of coolant in the engine, and with an aluminum block heat transfer is fast. ;)

Love my LX, but my 2002 F-150 supercrew gets the job done. Ford really overbuilt everything on it instead of over engineering. As far as heating up, seat heaters, etc.... 2002 F-150 is killin it. LX470 is a much nicer, solidly built vehicle though.

My 98LC heats up quickly. I'd say about 5 minutes. My wife's Sienna on the other hand is horrible, and it never does get really "hot".
