i FINALLY got a chance to see a new FJ up close. these are my thoughts:
you could not build a vehicle with less rear veiw capability unless it was an enclosed van
it felt like i was driving a toy, not a good handleing truck at all. I wish i could have got it off in the trails someplace, but the dealer salesman was reluctant to even let me test drive it.
and....WAY TO MUCH PLASTIC. rattled like a tool box.
and 4K over sticker. i can do a lot better with that kind of money.

I saw a silver FJ in town yesterday, it looked pretty cool. Way to big and chunky for my taste, but very cool. The grill is especially nice. I feel like its kinda doomed as a wheeler though, im sure its pretty capable as stock, but you toss a little lift and 33s on it (for god knows how much money) youll still have a big, chunky truck with no visibility and IFS. It seems to me that if you want a wheeling rig, than its not the way to go, and if you dont want a wheeling rig, then you dont need a big ass FJ with lockers anyways.

You are right. 4K over MSRP for any vehicle is ridiculous.

I had the opposite opinion on the handling though.
I thought it felt pretty solid. Agree on the rear visibilty but I think you would get used to it and rely on those big honkin mirrors.

Haven't driven the MT yet but hopefully this week. It would be a fun Desert rig.

what about when these things have 40-70k miles on them...will they be worth the money then?

I have seen one, but not driven. Anyone who complains about rear viewability has never driven an Isuzu Vehicross;) .

The local dealer had a yellow one and I wanted to go see it driving my Mustard FJ40, but it sold before I could get there.

I have lusted after an FJ since I saw it in the SOR catalog two years ago. They are all clean, and new, and ready to go. How exciting.

Then I drove one. They just aren't big enough, the rear seats don't fold flat, the visibility (particularly from the rear seat) is bad, and they have IFS.

For little more than half of the cost of an FJC, I can do a nice build up on my FJ62.

No enclosed wagon has better visibility than a 60/62, but I was still shocked at how bad the visibility out of the FJC was...Why would you NOT want to see out of the car?
