I've tried searching but did see any info on the Old Man Emu shocks I'm considering. Our passenger side airbag is on its way out, so I'm working on getting the parts in before it completely fails. I already ordered and received the SSO conversion kit. Ordered over the 4th weekend while they had a sale, even though it was listed as on backorder, it arrived today, so that was pretty cool. I don't want a huge lift so was going to get the OME 1.5 springs from metal tech, which should give me about 2.25 on the lowest SSO setting. OME 2007-09 FJ Cruiser Stock/Light Load Rear Springs - 1.5" Lift - https://www.metaltech4x4.com/ome-2007-09-fj-cruiser-stock-light-load-rear-springs-1-5-lift/

Here's my question. Was going to go with the OME shocks medium load and firm valving (part 60004) but seems those could give a harsh ride from other post.

Does anyone have experience with medium load and soft valving (part 60112)? We don't like the cushy comfort ride with the current ride settings. Prefer the second to last sport setting and more of firm ride. Also have future plans for hitch and 4-bike rack carrier as well as roof top tent. Thoughts....

Hello, I have the OME 2.5 lift with the following part numbers:
  • 2885 (pair of front coils) x 1
  • 90000 (front struts) x 2
  • 2898 (pair of rear coils) x 1
  • 60004 (rear shocks) x 2

My GX never had a good suspension since ive owned it, it was blown out airbags on leaking struts when i got it so i dont have anything to compare it to.

that being said, its a very firm ride unloaded, but with 300 pounds of camping gear + two kids it softens up. i dont mind it on the rough michigan roads, it seems to absorb the pavement impacts nicely and doesnt feel "jolty" around town.

Thanks @VSPor9 that's sounds like a nice setup.

I hear you with not know what to compare it to, as I'm pretty sure my truck still has the original stock suspension at 130,000 miles. Needless to say it's pretty tired...

Haha i picked mine up at about 468k with stock suspension and boy it had one foot in the grave
