Hey all...Happy New Year

I haven't been around in a while, but I am still in the market for a 100...

Came across this 2-owner 2000 LC w/ 71k miles. According to Carfax it is a NM vehicle, so rust should not be a problem.
Looks clean, but no third row or tow bar/hitch, only 1 key (?)...Tires have bout 60-65% left and look like a more aggressive off road tire than stock. I am in Houston and the truck is as well (Dealer purchase from Auction), so should be able to see in person.

Price seems on the HIGH side... from what I have read on this site 19k seems to be more realistic.

Also I know the 2k is preferrable to the 99 but would also be interested in thoughts on what newer years I should look at as well and what I could expect to pay...I looked at an 04 but was worried bout the possibility of whole NAV failure and its replacement cost if out of warranty...seems to be a few for sale locally.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated...

Thanks
Bill

No Hitch = + it has not been used to tow -
Low Miles = +++
Tires = BFG's are a +, I did tons of research and that is what I just choose - what size are those? 275 is standard, 285's are plus sized
$21,5 = - - - - - - big minus, your right at $19 this might be a deal, with the low miles, I would expect $20K. If it had 90K and still needed the service, then perhaps you could get one for 19.

03 = 5 Speed but then its way higher, I am not sure what those are going for, closer to 30K I imagine.

Good luck to you. If you find one near Denver, I would be happy to check it out but its winter and we are getting blasted this year - that will drive up the prices

Just did a quick search on autotrader for 03 LC's...price range is the low 30's (higher mileage, 60K-90K mi) to mid 40's (low mileage). In So. CA, there was only one listed for sale. It still snows in NM, so I don't know what they use on the roads there. Another search shows that within 300 miles of Tucson (doesn't snow here), there is only one 03LC for sale for $38K (41K mi) in Phoenix. You pay a premium, but the upside is if you buy a car from AZ (as long as it's not flagstaff), you're pretty much guaranteed not only no rust, but it may barely have been driven in rain, either. Shiny bolts on the undercarriage will show. The key is to make sure it's been garaged!

I've seen third row seats on craiglist and ebay-- if you are not in a hurry.

Ask about the # of keys (the first one you discussed only had one). Replacements for a master are around 300$ a pop (there are other methods discussed in the forum on this). I learned the hard way after negotiating the price on my recent '02 and then getting one key to drive away with.
'Twould be a good item to list in the Slee buying guide.

Jim I had a 99 LC that was a AZ vehicle, no rust bottom looked as new. Now it did suffer from all the heat. Leather was not as good as a northern vehicle and the paint was not as good from the sun. These LC/LX's have mostly galvenized steel and the only rust I've ever seen on one is where the frame paint has been chipped and some frame welds and scrapes on the skid plates. Were talkin all surface rust that cleans up with some rust restorer and a little rustoeum paint. I would only be worried if you had rust on the body and corrosion on bolts and in the tail gate area or in the engine compartment. I would use the surface rust on the frame skid places as a "oh my god" I will give you X under what your asking because of the rust :). JMHO

What all is invloved in the 90K mile maintenance? I just bought a 100 Series 99 that just rolled to 90K.

jgray: Everything.
All fluids flushed and filled and all filters. The biggies are if not previously done are : Throttle body - some will service, some will recommend replacement. The Starter usually goes around this point, The Timing Belt - many threads on this - I have not heard of one braking but the interval for replacement is 90K (I am doing mine for the first time for this vehicle 120K) It is by the way an interference engine, Gen Drive belt - AKA Accessory Belt. Then Lube, spark plugs, repack wheel bearings.
I am sure there is more but - its the big one and can be used to negotiate price

Please jgray, you did not buy a 100 LC and not understand the 90k service cost?
