Do the synchros in a 60 trans work better with a GL-4 gear oil than with a GL-5, leaving aside the syn vs. dino issue for a moment? There seems to be general agreement that the mini truck transmissions benefit from GL-4, the explanation being that the GL-4 isn't as slippery as the GL-5, therefore the sychros 'catch' better. Also something about GL-4 additives don't 'attack' yellow metals(brass, bronze) which are used in the synchros in those transmissions. Anyone ever heard of this? Any application to the LC transmissions? Nonsense or ????
