Folks, its that time of year again to go crawling in and about our trucks and ensure they are trail worthy. This year Bent Motorsports in San Marcos will be hosting us. I met with the owners Dave and Mike today and they are excited to have us. This will be a kid friendly event and all are encouraged to bring something for a potluck lunch. Dave has a grill we can use and a fridge if we need it. We can bring Mojos, smokers, whatever we want.

Details:

Where:

When:
Saturday August 26th, 10AM to 2ishPM or so.

There is ample parking out front and we will probably set up foodish endeavors there. Vehicles will drive around back of the building and into the shop to get onto the lift for each inspection.

Please post up if you can make it and what you might bring for the potluck if you chose to do so and I will keep a list going.

1: Elripster, 1994 80 series , beverage and burger stuffs.
2: Barneymc, chips and salsa
3: Phulcrum, smoker grill, beverages
3: Mc Criuser, sweets, inspection forms
4: Cruiser Bauers, burgers and buns
5: Beach&Cruiser, potato salad
6: Chap79: Epic salsa and chips
7: Mogwai: Da Bevs.
I have a scheduling conflict got the inspection. I have Pop Warner football games starting today and I will not be able to make it. I was looking forward to being there. Sorry about that.

I am sure the grill will still be hot around lunch time. I have some ketchup/Mustard to share along with burger makings.

If you bring your kids you might want to bring scooters and the likes since there will be parking lots on which to ride them. My kids have a school function so I am going solo.

Dave and Bent Motorsports did a great job lifting so many of our vehicles, and letting us get in there and look closely underneath. Free T-shirts and a very warm welcome made us all very comfortable in a well-equipped shop with great potential for helping with any upgrades we might have in mind. Gregg was his usual business-like inspector, catching and documenting any weak spots on our rigs. Thanks to Tim and Frank and all the others who brought the fire and meat. Also plenty of snacks and at the end, a great ice cream cake from Gregg that did very bad things to my blood sugar. All in all, a very fun day spent with a club that has grown and expanded after years of just a few of us getting together for BBQ and beer monthly at Mike's. Thanks to chap79 for the great pictures, too.

Great turn out and great time everyone! If you couldn't make it no sweat, with a group our size and being as diverse as we are there is little chance everyone can make it to a given event. If anyone who didn't make it would like to have their rig looked over post up, I am sure we can work something out.

See you all next week!

Frank

Oops, I meant the next club meeting is 9/5, not next week.

Sorry for the interruption, but does anyone have or know where to find some R-12 refrigerant? I am in need. Is a conversion to R-134 an easy thing to do

R134 is very easy to convert to. In fact the parts are off the shelf at the local auto parts store. I'd say go for the conversion.

If the system hasn't been serviced now would be a good time to chance the oil in the compressor, clean, and recharge.

I used to do all of this myself but the shops have better equipment to evacuate and draw a good vacuum prior to filling so now a days I just bite the bullet and take it in.

I just had Brad's Foreign and Domestic in Encinitas do the conversion for our 62. Blowing icicles now.
