And it's dead, lol. No spark troubleshooting?

So that occasional no start reared its head today. Cept I couldn't get it to fire back up.

So, here's where I am at-
No codes beforehand.
CEL is on when key is on. Getting voltage at b+ terminal. I think this means efi circuit is good.
No spark from dizzy or coil. Tested by first trying to ground it, then by sticking a screwdriver in and grabbing a hold of the metal while someone cranked. I didn't get electrocuted.

So, I am thinking either dizzy, coil, or igniter. I am going to look up the troubleshooting methods and start trying to eliminate stuff tomorrow.

Anyone have any suggestions? Or anyone have a good fj80 3fe igniter coil or dizzy laying around so I can play swaptronics?

Ah man, no good. Troubleshoot from the distributor back the the source of power if you're starting there. Hopefully its not compounded by unseen issues.
Good luck.

It started, then I shut it off and it wouldn't restart. I printed off how to test pickup coils in dizzy and the ignition coil- ignition coil called for I believe .2-.5ohm primary restistance, it measured at 1ohm. So that's out of spec. Everything else tested fine.

After plugging everything back up, it started. Wish it'd stay dead so troubleshooting would be easier. =P

At least that's a start. Replace those items and see if it comes back. Replace that hose that the previous owner mentioned too.

I think it's the ICM / Igniter. Gut feeling.

Ordered:
ICM
Coil
Plug Wires
Plugs
Cap
Rotor
PCV Valve, grommet
Air filter.

Should be a good start.

I hate it when people don't update these threads afterwards, so figured I'd post.

Did a full tuneup with the aforementioned parts. The coil tested out of spec, but a quick check of the new (aftermarket from Rock Auto) coil showed to be even further out of spec. I figured that wasn't a big deal.

I'm pretty confident it was the igniter. My EFI circuit was fine, it was definitely a spark issue. It hasn't done it since, so I'd call her fixed.
