Well i love this car but damn...i guess when it rains it pours.

for all the stuff im doing should probably start a build thread.

Currently going through non nav conversion so $$$ but took the gx into the dealer to get oil leak inspected to find it was coming from the cam seals on the front of the engine. 3k bill to do this but since I just did timing Lynnwood wa lexus is doing it for about 1800. This cost replaces all the valve cover gaskets too so should be good for a while. Anyone else experiencing these cam seal leaks?

front caliper seize so doing ebc rotors w green stuff pads and powerstop calipers

lol it snowed here in Seattle recently and i go to start my car to find the bad gas cap caused the traction control to go off...this car is damn fun to drive without this!!!! I fixed it and the slip and slide fun is over!

Dealer and i are working with corporate lexus to get dash replaced. If i have luck will let you know. I will fix on my own dime as i cant stand to look at this any longer. If i ever sell this car someone is getting a good deal.

paint is flaking on hood and repainting front clip.

lift is next if i dont run outta $$$

i know...is it worth it? I think so and love the car.

gx has 140k and plenty of life left...just wish some of this could’ve been spaced out a little more!

cheers

Cam seals arent common from what ive seen. Frozen calipers are to be expected, I did mine last winter and a week later the radiator started leaking. However, things like this will happen when cars are higher in mileage. I have had to do some repairs but, now I should be good for another 100k+.

Cam seals are not uncommon. Mine are very slowly leaking, but not enough that there is any noticeable oil loss between changes (5k). I will get this done next time I get the TB job complete (60k from now).
The paint issues I'm dealing with as well. Although it is starting on my roof and my tentative plan is some black vinyl wrap... Hopefully this keeps things a bit cleaner (not really needing perfection). This is the ONLY issue to date that has made me reconsider the vehicle. But then I remembered I paid cash, it is comfy, capable and cheap relative to a new(er) car. I'm not giving up yet.
