I have replaced the sub, sounds better but I was hoping to get to 30hz and it really fades off 35-38hz. Does anyone know if there is an active (in the jbl amp) or passive crossover on it?

I am just about to pull the trigger on replacing the amp and adding an 8 or 10 when I build a drawer for the back.

Already have aftermarket head unit

I know for fact there are active crossovers in the ML system, and JBL/ML are both owned by HK so...

Bear in mind no 5-1/4" subwoofer has any business trying to produce frequencies that low. You'd be better off with a 12" or larger subwoofer.

I get that. I have a 6 3/4 rated to 30 ... Not expecting to shake my teeth or wake the neighbors like when I was a kid. Just want to hear my music and felt like something was manipulating the signal.

thanks for confirming the crossover. I think I am going to pull the amp.

Funny ... That got delivered 5-10 min ago.

Well then you know you can bypass as many of the speakers as you want with that and keep the factory amp pushing whatever is left. Use the factory amp on all the rears, just as low volume fill for passengers, and pump some real wattage/volume to an aftermarket front stage and a real subwoofer.

Yeah when I asked you about the polyfil earlier, that’s one thing that is different. I have a jl audio xd700/5v2 pushing all my speakers. Not using any stock audio equipment at all.
