Am I missing a "skid" plate?

Is there supposed to be a part here? There are two nuts in the plate in front of the tranny pan with no bolts to go in them....

I don't have anything there.

There's an oblong thin steel "skid" plate in front of the tranny pan, centered more or less. It mounts with (3) short bolts.

If you're talking about the large plastic plate, mine had 2 clip-on nutplates, one on each side toward the outside edges. No mention I've seen here or in the FSM about what they're used for.

I had this same question about 10 years ago. Consensus was we are not missing anything.

Supposed to be a plastic "splash guard." Mine fell off a couple of years ago. I wouldn't bother replacing.

I don't think you're missing anything. The TJM skid plates cover that area if you're worried about it. Makes oil changes and drive line lubing tons of fun.

Mine is the same. Haven't seen anything in the FSM or parts catalog that suggests anything is missing.
