Well, kinda a weird request... But I figure there is enough people on here who know and have good fab skills.

I work for the City of San Diego Lifeguard Service.

We have two aluminum flat bottom "Jon" boats that we use for flood and river rescue. They were used in Hurricane Katrina and the flooding in the TJ river valley this year and last year. They are a valuable rescue tool for us in those type situations where other options are not available.

Unfortunately as many of you are aware, the City is in a bad budget situation. The boats need some welds fixed and some areas on the transom reinforced. We are looking for someone who has the skills to repair and reinforce some aluminum welds on the boats.

If you have the skills or know of someone or a business who might be willing to lend a hand, please PM me or let me know here.

try matthew at benchmark custom welding on shelter island. doubt he will do it for free but he is reasonable and very good with stainless and aluminum welding.

last time I stopped by he was at the Kolher craft boat yard...

Oh sure, you just want me to go and drool over his PIG...

On a serious note, I had thought about him. I know he does really good work. However we can't afford to pay anyone. :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Throw a couple of female lifeguards into the equasion and you might be suprised what could happen:D.

Robb,

How about contacting San Diego Community College? They have a welding shops at a few of their campuses and maybe interested in helping out. It may be good PR for them as well.

Tim
