Thought I'd ask here first. I'm planning on making a welded aluminum tubing rack for the bed of my Tacoma. It will be a low rack akin to some of the bed stiffeners people make, but also have a tray to extend over the single cab for a solar panel or extra storage. In the bed area will be a roof top tent.

So I'll be buying a bender soon as I'm going to need practice. Question is what size aluminum tubing should I plan for? 2" by .125". 2-1/2" by .125? Since the die set cost as much as the bender obviously I only want to buy it once.

Thanks for any insight.

From looking at the JD Squared website - 2.25" die set is about a $175 premium over the 2" set. Also every die set recommends .120" wall. But I assume that's for steel. Hmmm.
