I had a patch to sand blast on my floor, so i took care to use tarp to protect under the dash and really had a huge tarp around the driver door to protect everything except the area on the floor to sandblast. I tapped the tarp around the sandblast area. And since i didn't find sand i took a bag of aluminum oxide we use at my shop. Still.....obviously some managed to find its way under the dash.

back a couple of days, after my repair was done i took the truck on the road and i have been running after electric gremlins.

Took the truck for a other ride last thursday and notice one head light not working. Back home on the weekend i decide to change the head light, nope that is not it. So i trace the problem to my dimmer relay, while unscrewing the bolt some explosion happen. Then i took the next half hour searching where it came from, and i couldn't find anything. So i finally fix the light problem.

Today, took the truck for a small ride. While coming to a stop.....shhh..boom, tons of sparks coming from the brake pedal pivot. I stop and look at the pivot and it came from the switch, it blewup..

I'm sure you all know by now NOT TO USE ALUMINUM OXIDE with wires around! some managed to find its way into plugs. I knew aluminum oxide is nasty, but i thought the material used for sandblast was mixed up with other stuff so it isn't flamable...Damn even tho i blew air everywhere to clean the truck i feel like i may be driving a bomb! :bang::bang:

If you ever use aluminum oxide to sandblast be very cautious...Great sandblast media, it doesn't do dust like sand, but......

It's not that it is flammable. It's that it is conductive. So it is causing short circuits in various components for you.
